Requisites for treating phimosis at home

For phimosis in general. You’ll need these things:

  1. 20 phimosis rings
  2. Phimosis cream (non-steroidal)
  3. Extra Virgin Coconut oil

For the extreme case of phimosis, also called pin-hole phimosis or Type 4 phimosis. You’ll need all the above things plus (maybe) a stretching tool as well.

What is a phimosis ring?

Phimosis rings are basically silicone rings made from medical grade silicone. They are 100% safe to be used on skin.
The primary function of the phimosis ring is to sit inside the foreskin and expand the foreskin upto the size of the phimosis ring. Maybe the image below will better help in understanding this.

wearing phimosis ring

Notice how the phimosis ring is inside and helps in stretching the foreskin. Notice that how the phimosis ring is also holding the foreskin in its place and helps in preventing the foreskin to slide further downwards.

In simple words, the phimosis rings

  • Stretches the foreskin.
  • Helps prevent paraphimosis by stopping the foreskin from sliding further downwards.

Step Zero: Find your phimosis ring size

phimosis rings of all sizes

Depending on how far you can stretch your foreskin, choose the ring size that is best for you. Choose a ring based on its degree of tightness; it shouldn’t be too tight or too loose.

Don’t worry if you can’t discover your phimosis ring size right away because we have every size a human penis could possible come in. You have to try the rings until you find the one that suits you the best, so it takes some trial and error.

All the rings are numbered in millimeters so you can track your progress over time.

The ring sizes are 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, 24mm, 26mm, 28mm, 30mm, 32mm, 34mm, 36mm, and 38mm.

Step 1: Apply coconut oil on foreskin

Use a small amount of coconut oil or castor oil to massage the prepuce and the entire foreskin. To make sure the foreskin and prepuce are well hydrated, this is done.

Step 2: Apply coconut oil on phimosis ring

On the phimosis ring’s outside circumference, rub coconut or castor oil. This cleans the ring of any dirt and lessens friction on the foreskin.

Since the foreskin is a sensitive area, it is always safer to use natural products like extra-virgin coconut oil or extra-virgin castor oil. Both of these oils have anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties.

Step 3: Retract the foreskin over glans and slide phimosis ring over it to finally set it under foreskin

Try to slip the foreskin over glans as naturally as you can by placing your first finger and thumb over it.
The phimotic band refers to the length at which the foreskin could be slid over (marked in black line).
Grab the phimosis ring with the correct size in your other hand, press it on your glans to gently tilt it, and then insert it into the phimotic band (or prepuce).

Step 4: Check for tightness of the ring & make sure it is comfortable.

The phimosis ring should fit snugly, not be either excessively tight or too loose. Try to use a size larger than the current ring size if the ring is loose.

Additionally, a tight ring increases the chance of developing fissures in the foreskin, which would prevent you from wearing the rings for a few weeks and risk losing all the progress you have made thus far.

Please refer to the image on the following page if you’re using a ring larger than 24mm to understand how to utilise these rings securely.

Step 5: For bigger sized rings

The rings above 24mm are categorized into bigger-sized rings. These rings have a different style of wearing which is shown in images.

Furthermore, rings of sizes 30mm, 32mm, 34mm, 36mm, and 38mm have a special cut on one side of the ring to ensure easy and comfortable grip on foreskin.

The side on which the cut is present will be up and the side where the ring is continuous (no cut) will go under the foreskin.
